On May 19, 2007 our two USTA Jr. Tennis Teams traveled up north to Stanford University to compete in the "Showdown", a one day round robin tennis event where co-ed teams participate in a true tennis team challenge. The Little Gions 12 & under and the Red Rebels 14 & under competed in this all day event and believe me, they brought their game. We arrived a day early and were able to venture to San Francisco to enjoy some great food at Pier 39 on Fisherman's Warf... The food was great and the kids had a lot of fun. Some of the kids played a joke on Chaz, telling the waiter at Bubba Gumps seafood restaurant, that it was his birthday. So the waiter told Chaz to stand up on a chair and all the people around sang Happy Birthday to him. It was embarrassing to him, but funny to me, especially since it was not his birthday. I (Coach Charles Mosley) just laughed and continued to eat my tasty shrimp. The kids are already talking about going next year. Maybe we can take 4 teams next year..
