“Little Mo”
Road to Nationals
Austin, Texas
April 11, 12, & 13, 2008
Barnes Tennis Center
San Diego, Ca.
The “Little Mo” sectionals, which is held in San Diego, Ca. April 11, 12, and the 13th, at the Barnes Tennis Center, is the first step to the road to Nationals and the only USTA Junior National Tennis tournament for kids under 12. The next step to the road to Nationals is Regionals, which is also held in San Diego September 26, 27, & the 28th.
In order to qualify for regionals you must make the top 8 from the sectional tournament. The Regionals covers the whole western region of the United States, including Hawaii. In order to advance to Nationals, which is held in Austin, Texas, you must make the top 4 in the western region. Only 16 players around the country advance to Nationals in each age group. Jada Hart, age 10, who trains under Charles Mosley, USPTR Professional and Director of “Gion Tennis”, is well on her way to Regionals in September after placing first in the Girls 10 division. Jada defeated Paris Todd from Ladera Ranch, Ca. 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the finals of the Southern California Sectional. Jada is expected to be a top seed at Regionals giving her a great shot at making the nationals representing the Inland Empire and the western region of the United States. Nathan Hart, the father of Jada was very pleased and proud of Jada’s performance and composure on the court during her matches. “Win or lose, she is a fighting tiger”, Nathan said. When asked about her preparation for the tournament, Jada says she really enjoys playing her coach challenge matches because he does not take it easy on her. “Coach Charles always says that your opponents are not going to take it easy you, so why should I?” “This is not the first student of mine that has made it to this level of play. Seven years ago, Jordaan Sanford from Rancho Cucamonga made it to finals of Nationals three consecutive times, winning at age 8, 9, and a finalist at age 10”. Jada is one of the most powerful and determined players I have ever trained. I would not be surprised if she was national champion come November of this year… Jada also will be competing in June for the USTA Team Tennis State Championships at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca. Her team, The “Little Gions”, won the 12 & under advanced Southern California Sectionals in January at Indian Wells under the coaching of Charles Mosley, USPTR Professional.
