Not really sure how to introduce the “Junior of the Month”, but I will do my best. The “Junior of the month” is Govind Nanda, a 7 year old from Redlands, California. He is the proud son of Rajeesh & Meena Nanda. I have had the pleasure of training Govind for the past 2 ½ years and it has been indeed a pleasure to coach him. He just finished his second season competing in the USTA Team Tennis League in which he was a member of two teams. The 10 & under and 12 & under teams. He also just won his second USTA Sanctioned tournament in Los Angeles during the 4th of July weekend at The Jackie Tatum USTA Tournament. By the way, his sister, Shyamlee won the 12 & under division. I can not say enough about the qualities that he possesses not only as a tennis player, but as a person. He displays great sportsmanship, honesty, and integrity on and off the court. He is vey positive with a great level of confidence. He always asks me if he can play the older kids, which shows me he enjoys the challenges. He is not intimidated by the more experienced players, but rather learns from them. Govind’s tennis skills are very advanced for his age. He has a great hunger to learn. Just last month he asked me if he could learn the slice backhand. I taught it to him in about 5 minutes. None the less, I just really enjoy coaching him. We tease him about the hawk that flies around during the day, named Pete. Pete is a really big hawk that keeps his eye on Govind, so we tell him to hurry and grow some more so the hawk does not fly off with him and his racket. Anyway, I am proud to announce Govind Nanda as Junior of the month….!
